The firm says its new product is a reflection of a growing market interest in confidential paper-based archiving of contracts, protocols, reports, minutes and other documents. This area has been underestimated until now because it was widely believed that a massive move towards trusted digital documents would come. However, growing distrust in impenetrability of digital certificates and a large number of successful hacker attacks on confidentiality of storages motivate some organisations to look at the opposite direction.

Cílem následujícího textu je informovat o novinkách a trendech v oblasti hologramů v průmyslu, a také situaci zpřehlednit. Výrazem "hologram" je totiž označováno nepřeberné množství nástrojů a technologií, tkeré v podstatě spojuje vlastně jen to, že pracují s nějakou formou optické iluze. Takové hologramy je možné využívat nejrůznějším způsobem, totéž platí o způsobech jejich vytváření. Navíc je dění v oboru hodně dynamické. Téměř neustále se objevují nové průmyslové aplikace  a vedle nich vzniká řada zajímavých inovací, které jsou předváděny na výstavách, ale fakticky ještě nebyly uvedeny do praxe. Jak hologramy třídit? V tisku lze najít řadu pokusů o jejich klasifikaci podle typu optického efektu. To je snadno uchopitelné, problém je v šak v tom, že to vypovídá stejně málo jako pokusy třídit automobily podle barvy. Smysluplnější je tedy vyjít z účelu, k jakému jsou využívány, případně z technologie jejich výroby.

Optaglio has recently announced a new holographic solution focused on protecting chips in ePassports against removal and replacement. The company anticipates future counterfeiting attacks will target chips with biometric data in the foreseeable future. 

Personal and biometric data stored inside a chip within a document is a robust authentication tool, supporting all levels of machine reading up to automated e-gates. However, these chips are often targeted by counterfeiters, despite the fact that most documents producers apply a kind of protective measures.

Dr. Tomas Karensky, Senior Research Manager, said: "Our discussions with forensic laboratories experts confirm recent growth in attempts for chip replacement. Some five years ago, the attackers mostly tried to disable chips, but the eGates force them to apply more sophisticated technologies. The new Optaglio solution is based on covering the chip with a hologram comprising thousands of tiny particles.

Prague´s transport system was this year hit by ticket fraud, with criminals introducing counterfeit tickets into the system in hight quantities. 

Prague City Transit (Dopravní podnik Praha or DPP) - the company with operates the networks - cannot say how long the fakes were distributed, and any estimate of financial impact would be a sheer speculation. Only a few weeks before the exposal, a company spokeswoman claimed that there was no risk of counterfeiting tickets. Once the scandal was exposed, DPP´s contract with its ticket printing company was cancelled, and in the aftermath, top management positions are reported to be at risk.

V obou případech se jedná o korporace s tisíci zaměstnanců, velkými obchodními týmy, obrovskými zařízeními pro masovou výrobu atd. My jsme ve srovnání s nimi pokládáni spíše za výzkumnou organizaci, což opravdu odpovídá našemu zaměření. A naše cíle? V první řadě udržet technologický náskok. Když proti vám hrají korporace s relativně velkými vývojovými kapacitami, a když se stovky kriminálních skupin snaží padělat vaše prvky, není to snadné. Musíte neustále zkoušet nové cesty. Nebát se investovat i do výzkumných projektů, ze který nakonec nic nemusí být. Získávat nejlepší lidi a nebát se „překvalifikovanosti.“  To všechno pochopitelně stojí peníze.

V roli svědka musel včera k soudu matematik a miliardář Karel Janeček. Důvodem byl článek, který vydal boháčem financovaný server. Předmětem sporu byl text dávající společnost Optaglio, zabývající se výrobou hologramů, do souvislosti s firmami, které skrývají své ruské vlastníky. Jméno dvacetiprocentního podílníka firmy je přitom veřejně dostupné i v internetovém rejstříku. „Vadí nám, že jsme v textu byli dáváni do souvislosti s různými polomafiánskými strukturami. Pomocí soudu se chceme očistit, protože máme např. vládní zakázky v USA a článek může naše podnikání ohrozit,“ řekl Blesku Petr Hampl ze společnosti Optaglio. U soudu nicméně zazněla také informace, že Janeček kdysi jednal o kapitálovém vstupu do Optaglia a článek může být jakousi odvetou za to, že byl odmítnut.

Focusing on strategies for anti-counterfeit protection of polycarbonate documents, it states that many manufacturers spend enormous resources without actually improving protection. Importance of well-considered strategy is emphasised in the white paper.  The paper confirms growing number of counterfeiting attacks against documents. Counterfeiters are more sophisticated and technologically advanced. Traditionally, document producers kept their advantage by adding more and more security elements. However, it seems that this solution does not work anymore. Too many security elements result just in confusion of inspecting guards. Optaglio, therefore, emphasizes that each component should play a specific role in an integrated defence strategy.

The advance enhances visual based protections against counterfeiters, as this level of resolution is beyond the reach of potential attackers, according to the developers. "This success is backed by long research. It is relatively easy to create a narrow stream of electrons, but it is necessary to deal also with particular technical and physical challenges such as proximity effect,“ said Dr Tomas Karenský, senior research manager in OPTAGLIO. "This technology upgrade enables us to create entirely new visual effects.”

Česká firma vyvinula hologramy s rekordním rozlišením

Výzkumná společnost Optaglio sídlící v Lochovicích u Berouna začala vyrábět hologramy s rozlišením až 5 milionů DPI. Díky tomu je principiálně nemožné, aby byl takový ochranný prvek imitován. Tyto prvky jsou určeny pro pasy a další průkazy, státní dokumenty a velmi drahé značkové zboží. 

Společnost Optaglio byla už dosud světovou jedničkou v oboru.Pracovala s rozlišením až 2,5 milionu DPI, což - mimo jiné - umožnilo umístit podrobnou mapu Měsíce na plochu jediného čtverečního centimetru.

Packaging with strong anti-counterfeit protection can enhance product revenues by tens of percent. However, it is critical to define the right strategy, selection of elements and not underestimate supporting activities such as customer communication - write Libor Šustr and Petr Hampl for Packaging Europe. MarkMonitor research has recently shown that managers of more than 86% brands believe their business is significantly damaged by counterfeiting. Most of them say they lose between 10 – 50 % of revenues. In addition to revenue decreases, brands are impacted by low quality or even dangerous products circulating in the market. It is a result of the huge growth of counterfeiting industry, which now is so strong that nobody knows how to cope with it. Historically, counterfeiting was primarily focused on money and documents. Products were imitated only rarely; most counterfeiters focused on antiquities. The enormous space for counterfeiting was opened firstly by mass production and then by changes in the second half of 20th century.

1) Most goods are produced in a different region than they are consumed. Up to the 1970s, most Italians drove Italian cars; Germans drove German cars, British drove British cars, etc. It was the case for most of the products. Local markets give only limited space for entering of counterfeiting goods into the distribution chains. Markets with some specialised items, such as exotic food, were truly global. However, it is tough to fake Vietnamese pepper, Havana cigars or a particular brand of Irish whiskey. More sophisticated clients understand the difference and not sophisticated clients don't care. But lately, as one kind of handbag or break pads is used worldwide, huge opportunities open up for counterfeiting.

In the ever growing battle of PVC vs. polycarbonate for secure ID production, Optaglio announced that it has shipped document security features for some 20 million polycarbonate ID cards, passports and driving licenses in the first half of 2017. This is an increase of 30 percent compared with the same period in 2016. The volume of deployment of document security features for advanced card materials is another signal that the use of polycarbonate for secure IDs is growing. Most of this Optaglio production goes to companies that print secure documents in Asia and Europe. This year Optaglio also [will start to] offer application machines so that the clients can perform [the] entire production process in-house,” says the company, based in the Czech Republic.

The growth in distribution of Optaglio’s advanced card materials comes as more governments are issuing polycarbonate cards, or paper documents that include a polycarbonate page. The company provides document security features that make it much more difficult for criminals to counterfeit identity cards. The trend to polycarbonate documents will continue, with “most market analysts” saying that by 2022, “only a few nations will insist on entirely paper-based documents.” A polycarbonate layer is a main feature in Optaglio’s OVMesh product line. That line integrates “security holograms into polycarbonate cards to create a single polycarbonate unit without any heterogeneous adhesive.” During card lamination, melted polycarbonate flows between holograms that consist of thousands of tiny pieces, the company says—essentially, the card becomes like a sandwhich. That means that any criminal trying to alter the card by removing its document security features would destory the hologram. And once laminated, OVMesh cards can undergo laser engraving either on the OVMesh itself or the layer below.

Current technology enables application of virtually all visual effects that are used on normal size holograms. However, sometimes it would be useful to have special effects that are good for microhologram inspection and not so interesting on normal size holograms. Thirdly. Technologies for integration of microholograms into different substances. Existing solutions are powerful for polycarbonate and paper. However, there are also other materials to be covered.

شرکت اپتاگلیو که در کشور جمهوری چک و در حوزه تولید هولوگرام فعالیت دارد، اخیراً هولوگرام مبتنی بر فناوری‌ نانو ساخته است که امکان جعل آن وجود ندارد.

در این هولوگرام‌های امنیتی، ساختارهایی قرار داده شده‌است که کاربر می‌تواند به سرعت نسخه اصل را شناسایی کند. این ساختارهای نوری به راحتی قابل کپی کردن نیست. این هولوگرام در نمایشگاه SDW 2017 Expo در لندن به نمایش گذاشته شد.

معمولاً برای اسناد یا محصولات اصیل از هولوگرام استفاده می‌شود. ویژگی‌های منحصر به فردی روی این هولوگرام وجود دارد که تشخیص آن را ساده‌تر می‌کند. حالا اگر فردی هولوگرامی مشابه هولوگرام اصلی طراحی کند، تشخیص دو هولوگرام اصل و تقلبی بسیار دشوار می‌شود و این جایی است که افراد جاعل از آن استفاده می‌کنند. برای این منظور شرکت‌های تولیدکننده هولوگرام به دنبال ایجاد ساختارهایی هستند که منحصر به فرد باشند و به سادگی شناسایی شوند.

It means more than 30% growth in comparison with the same period of 2016. OPTAGLIO thus strengthened its position of a leader in polycarbonate focused solutions. The company wrote in a statement that this underlines a trend towards polycarbonate documents with machine-readable biometric data. Optaglio, which makes high-resolution security holograms, has unveiled several new optical features that enable users to identify genuine holograms immediately and that cannot be imitated at all, according to the company. Some of them were implemented in holograms shown at the SDW 2017 Expo (June 26-28; London, England). The ongoing race between document falsifiers and document protectors is mostly based on emulating visual effects of security elements such as holograms. If the falsifier manages to produce something so close to the genuine hologram that ordinary users are confused, his/her counterfeiting effort will likely be successful. It is the main reason hologram producers need to introduce new effects regularly to maintain their advantage against attackers.
